Mascara is one of the main starting points for any person interested in makeup. It could be because of how accessible the tool is or its price, but it is definitely beginner-friendly. The beautiful thing about mascara is that it can be worn with or without a full face of makeup.

It is effectively a wand that is coated with dye to help your lashes appear fuller and longer. It is a manual fix that wakes your face up and adds dimension. In addition to it dyeing your lashes, some mascaras contain oils. These oils help your lashes to grow and look fuller for longer. It’s the perfect fix for lashes that grow downwards or for sprucing up your face for the day.

WHAT IS MASCARA?

Mascara is a tool used to enhance your eyelashes. By enhance we mean to make them appear fuller, longer or a different colour?

WHEN SHOULD YOU WEAR MASCARA?

Mascara can be worn every day at any time. It can be used on days when you choose to go bare-faced or to blend your lashes with falsies. Falsies is a slang word for false lashes.

WHERE CAN I BUY MASCARA?

Anywhere! Everyone sells a popular cosmetic product. For beginners, you should try the mascaras at your local beauty supply store. Once you’ve had a taste, you can switch over to a branded version. The switching process won’t take very long in our experience!

Mascara is popular with newbies in the beauty industry because the cosmetic is used in almost every makeup or non-makeup routine.

Who can tell me which mascara is the best for me?

That’s not an easy answer. Not only do mascaras target different things, but some work better for others depending on your current climate. For example, water-proof mascara. Water-proof mascara is excellent for sports or for people who tend to laugh when they cry. You won’t end up with a smudged face or dark circles which is a bonus!

There are also smudge-proof mascaras. You know that annoying itchy feeling you get near your eye. Trust us, no matter how careful you think you are, you’ve definitely moved several hairs out of place.

On top of this, you’ll need to think about mascaras that don’t transfer or flake during the day. So back to our original point, this is not an easy question to answer. You’ll have to do what the rest of us do and buy one to test it out. Or you could consult YouTube and see what your favourite beauty bloggers are saying.

How do I apply it?

It is a fairly straightforward cosmetic. It comes with a wand and you use it to comb through the hairs that protect your eyes. Be careful not to poke yourself! It’s annoying, painful and can ruin makeup if you’re doing a full face. It’s best to use a mirror your first few times as an aid. When you’re combing through your top lashes, try to look down. When you’re combing through your bottom lashes, look straight ahead. This should reduce the chance of you poking yourself in the eye.
