Chanel Is Giving Us Something New Other Than Tweed!

Chanel is considered to be the crème de la crème of luxury brands. If you love fashion, Chanel has some of the most lucrative items in the world for your wishlist. As a brand, Chanel doesn’t focus on technological advancements like other retailers. For example, you can browse the collections online but can’t purchase any products from the catalogue. As spring 2021 is here, I am giving you the lowdown on the Chanel spring summer 2021 ready-to-wear collection.

Held at the Grand Palais in France, Chanel is no stranger to a vast runway arsenal. Since Largerfeld’s untimely death, Virginie Viard has taken on the mantle of creative director. The collection is less extensive than Karl’s but admirable, as seven looks opened the show.

Opening Looks

What I love about the Chanel show is how authentic the collections always are to the brand. I expect tweed, some pink garments, and some gorgeous jackets. The collection oozes simplicity, elegance and tradition. I admire Chanel for this, as it is hard to stick to traditional output means during globalisation. Chanel shows that sophistication always stays in style. Tradition always remains in fashion.

Chanel spring summer 2021 Knitwear

The Hollywood-inspired collection gives the right amount of glitz and glamour for Chanel’s short and sweet collection. In the exhibition, there is a pink knit dress that is like a robe which is to die for. The knit dress is transferrable into any style. I would wear this but change the necklace and nail colour. I may remove the headband as a personal style choice.

Monogramming

The monograms are quite possibly as close to trendy as Chanel will get. Embellishing garments with logos and trademarks is a service most appreciated by the nouveau riche. It signifies wealth and provides a significant income stream for many fashion houses. I am not a big fan of monogrammed garments, but I appreciated the emblazoned jumpers and jackets when I saw the show.

If someone begins their luxury journey with a high fashion house, it is best to start small. Small leather goods and good-quality pre-loved bags are the way to go. As most of the garments made for Chanel are premium prices, the t-shirts and jumpers are a fantastic choice. It adds monetary flavour to your outfit and gives you an edgy vibe that you will learn to appreciate.

Chanel Accessories & Shoes

The accessories were big and bold for this collection. The jewellery was all gold featuring various stones and pearls alike. Model Rianne Van Rompaey (who opened the show) was wearing a necklace of a Chanel bag pendant. The chain mimicked the leather of some bags. Similarly, the bracelets had CC bag charms layered in a boho style.

The shoes are elegant, timeless and simple. These shoes are age-appropriate for anyone aged 13 and up (minus the heels). They are interchangeable and classic. What I like about the loafers is that the logo doesn’t stretch across the shoe. To the naked eye, no one would know they are CC. To the trained eye, it’s so effortlessly cool to wear loafers by CC as they are better quality when compared to high streets. The flats and heels are adorable as it gives day-to-night energy. Always invest in footwear because it can damage your feet if made poorly.
