The 64th Grammy Awards took place on Sunday April 3rd and the red-carpet looks did not disappoint. Stars took to the awards in a variety of designers and styles and truly provided a lot of iconic looks. A common thread at this year’s Grammy Awards was that of ‘glitz and glam’. Various looks featuring intricate beading, glitter and sparkles graced the red carpet. Another common theme was unsurprisingly pink, specifically hot pink, a colour trend that has been completely dominating 2022 so far. These prominent trends made of an evening of elaborate gowns and show-stopping suits and so here are the clear winners (our rundown) of the best looks from the evening.
Hailey Bieber in Saint Laurent
Hailey Bieber never fails to astound on the red carpet and her Grammys 2022 look was no different. In probably my favourite look from the night; the model stunned in a figure-skimming strapless gown by Saint Laurent. The silk slip dress was a minimalist’s dream and paired perfectly with her loosely undone hair and dainty jewellery.
Her look perfectly complemented by her husband Justin’s edgier look. Justin wore an oversized Balenciaga suit with a hot pink beanie. Hailey’s look was not the only minimalist chic Saint Laurent look that was worn to the Grammy’s this year. TikTok star Addison Rae also took to the red carpet in a similar silk slip dress with her boyfriend Omer Fedi.
Rachel Zegler in Dior
Rachel Zegler has had a busy awards season this year following on from her role as Maria in West Side Story in 2021. The busy awards season showcases the best red carpet looks and her outfit at the Grammys did not disappoint. The actress wore a stunning grey tulle gown from Dior Haute Couture.
The dress featured rope accents on the waist and back that acted as a boning structure on the corset of the gown. The rope connected the neckline to the rear with off-shoulder straps that tied at the back of the gown. The cool-toned colour was perfectly paired with a crimson lip and the actress’s hair styled into a relaxed and textured bob.
St Vincent in Gucci
St Vincent went in the complete opposite direction of minimalism. She wore an elaborate Gucci gown that was reminiscent of a vintage robe that one might wear to elegantly walk down an extravagant staircase in a manor house. It was a mood that I was very much here for. The silhouette of the gown was astounding.
The dress began as almost a slip dress style in the way it skimmed her body with a beautiful cut-out detail. But the dress then ballooned into these free-slowing sleeves and a long train both of which were trimmed with a feather-like frill detail in a hot-pink contrasting the blush-toned gown. The gown perfectly encapsulated Gucci’s fun and fantastical style as of late. The whimsical look seemed perfectly suited to St Vincent and her personal style.
