Was This Years’ Gala That Successful?

This year’s Met Gala was revolutionary, riveting and all kinds of Gala. The 2022 red carpet was one of a kind and unique in its truest sense. Right from the theme, ‘’In America: An Anthology of Fashion”, the Met Gala took off to a glamorous thematic start. Gilded Glamour was the centre of everyone’s stunning cosmetic universe. There were so many dazzling looks that made their mark and I can’t wait to share my favourites!

Kiki Layne

I will begin with my favourite overall look from the Mets with Kiki Layne. Kiki Layne’s Afro and polka-dotted petals all over her eyes added to the whole pink vibe! Makeup wizard Billie Gene showed her talent and how with this look! It sure did make my head turn.

Gigi Hadid

Gigi Hadid chose to opt for the royal classy reddish-burgundy lip. She promoted drugstore products and swept the floor with her red-pillow-like pantsuit. I think it spoke to the importance of the little things in the grandeur that life is. Metaphorical or not, her simple yet classy approach had a Gigi touch to hit and we I love that!

Megan Thee Stallion

Megan The Stallion was Lauren Child’s human canvas. She emitted gold left, right and centre! The shimmery glaze across her eyelids made her outfit stand out and her golden hairdo accentuated the ‘gilded’ in her entire look. Both sensational and striking.

Quannah Chasinghorse

Some looks are too out of the box but some fit right in there. Quannah Chasinghorse’s exclusive take on the whole anthological yet modern glamour was just that. Her regional ensemble went hand in hand with the sky blue yet pale stroke over her eyelids. Enough to make even the cameraman an instant fan. Looking like an absolute muse, Chasinghorse’s accessories also deserve immense appreciation. They were curated perfectly according to the theme and complimented her makeup very well.

Jodie Turner-Smith

Jodie Turner-Smith opted for Gucci Beauty and went with an au naturel look. She let her jewellery speak for itself and just added a triplet of golden dots right below her arched eyelids. Her entire look was just magnificent to me. Many celebrities went for a natural look but hers simply stood out.

Blake Lively

Charlotte Tilbury and Versace were the fairy godmothers to Blake Lively’s ravishing copper-light turquoise gown at the Gala this year. Her makeup was a simple yet elegant take on using bronzer to warm up the face. The shimmery auburn towards her inner eyes with her contour was just the perfect blend of class and bling. The gown did make heads turn, but what’s usually difficult to do.

Planning a red carpet look is important, especially for Blake. With a stunning gown like that, is important to ensure the makeup doesn’t look over the top. However, it needs to still hit home and treat the eyes! Fortunately, with her partnership with Charlotte Tilbury, the Tilbury bronzer did just that for Lively!

Kendall Jenner

Kendall Jenner’s Bleached Eyebrows have taken over the internet and we can’t leave it out when discussing her Met Gala look. Although I take a slightly ambiguous position in terms of personally liking it, it did abide with the theme of the Gala to some extent. The gothic yet trendy look created quite the pop and whatever was said, her brunette hairdo did compliment her vanished eyebrows. Totally subjective though, I will agree.

All in all, the Mets were as extravagant as always. But not a lot of looks stood out to me. Can we say that the Mets met Gala, this time? It’s an interesting question. One that I cannot answer right now.
