I’m not burned out from work or anything, I just need it. I enjoy leaving the house and speaking to people a little too much to miss a brunch appointment. The best part is that I haven’t even taken the food into consideration. Brunch is a nice mid-way point between breakfast and lunch with added alcohol. The drinks don’t get much more exciting than prosecco, usually, but that’s not what I’m there for.
The reason I love brunch is that it happens early in the day. I’m an early riser so I never feel like I have to decline a brunch invitation for fear of not doing enough work for the day. When you see your friends sometime between 11:00 AM and 2:00 PM, it’s super flirty and fun. If the weather is nice and it’s a warm day outside, it adds to the ambience even more. You’re not bogged down by the large tote bag you brought to work with you or that you use to run errands. Most of the time it’s a simple mini bag or just your phone and something to pay for your experience.
The Experience
The next good reason for attending brunch appointments is the bottomless drinks. Now I will warn you here. The bottomless drinks are often caveated by other purchases. For example, you’ll have to order a main dish to be eligible for bottomless drinks. As a foodie, I am not a hardass about this. I’m there to enjoy myself. So if you want bottomless drinks, I guess we’re ordering a main dish. When I’m out with the girls, I’m not focusing on anything but catching up and having a good time.
When it comes to the food, it is a mixture of lunch and brunch. So you’re likely to see eggs and bacon on the same table as salmon and avocado toast. That has to be a highlight for me. I am a real tapas kind of girl and I love trying new things. The only sad part is not being able to eat that much! Milkshakes and espresso on the same table make me happy because of the representation of individualism. I don’t drink coffee often, I’m more of a water or sparkling lover. But my friends enjoy it. So to me, it’s the very essence of a group of people who couldn’t be more different coming together.
Surprisingly, I am not the type of person to shop afterwards. But I do miss it and will need to experience this one day. I guess because my girls and I all have our own careers, we’d prefer to meet up and enjoy each others’ company for a few hours. Then we have to get back to our individual lives until we can do brunch again. So I guess my original question still stands – who’s up for brunch this weekend?
Best Time For Brunch
Do you know when a great time to have brunch is? Straight after the day of pay of course. Who cares about spending once they’ve been paid? I don’t. My current vibe is to budget first so that I know how much I have to spend in proportion to my goals. If I have some money to spend, it’s most likely to be spent at the beginning of the month. But you can’t put a price on a good time and loving experiences.
The best-case scenario for a brunch appointment will happen on a weekend. For obvious reasons of course – you don’t have to work! You can leave the house in any outfit you’d like that makes you feel comfortable and be surrounded by positive energy. When brunch happens on the weekend, you don’t have to trudge around town with a lot of luggage either. You can pick and choose what you do for the day. The only way you’ll have to walk around town with bags, is if you decide to do some shopping afterwards. The only consequence is continuing the party because you’ll leave brunch happy and full, spending the day looking for new bargains.
If you haven’t experienced brunch before I’d encourage you to do so. It’s well worth the money and the experience with your loved ones are unmatched.
