The undereye area is one of the most troublesome on the entire face. The skin is thin and delicate, meaning it’s prone to looking less than picture-perfect a lot of the time. But many of us don’t want to be rubbing a ton of active ingredients in this sensitive area. And for times like this, going for gentle, yet super hydrating eye creams are the perfect option.
A current favourite of mine is the Glossier Bubblewrap. As the name suggests, this is a supremely protective cream, adding a layer of hydration that sticks around. It gives the under eyes a really youthful, dewy glow, and is perfect for no-makeup days.
A more amped-up version of this is the Kiehls Creamy Eye Treatment With Avocado. This is thick – but it melts into the skin and leaves the under eyes feeling coated with hydration. One caveat, though – it can disrupt concealer, so it may be best to use it at night.
Best For the Day
For the day, I’m a huge proponent of the Ole Henriksen Banana Bright Eye Cream. This offers a slightly yellow tint, making it incredible at cancelling out blue tones. It’s also really smooth and plumping for a youthful-looking eye.
If you want hydration without the heaviness, consider instead the Drunk Elephant Shaba Complex Eye Serum. This feels extremely lightweight but packs a punch when it comes to moisture. If your eyes are feeling dried out and thirsty, but you can’t stand heavy feeling creams, look no further.
For those with extremely sensitive and dry peepers, the La Roche Posay Toleriane Ultra Eyes is an incredible option. It’s both highly soothing and effectively hydrating. This means it’ll tackle any irritation while also helping repair dryness and dehydration.
Creams For Tight Budgets
If you’re on a tight budget, the CeraVe Eye Repair Cream and the Neutrogena Hydra Boost Eye Cream are both perfect drugstore options. The former has a thicker, more frosty texture, while the latter has a water-gel consistency. Both have an immediately hydrating effect, which offers temporary relief from dehydration lines. Used over time, they’ll give you a plumper, more resilient undereye.
My final recommendation is the eye cream for those who’ve tried them all. The Pai Echium and Argan Gentle Eye Cream are amazing for anyone who struggles to find an eye cream that works. It’s all-natural, which means it’s perfect for those who are that way inclined, yet it’s highly effective at soothing and smoothing dried-out, irritated under eyes. It also comes in an easily portable tube with a pump, so gets bonus points from me.
