The 74th Emmy Awards took place in Los Angeles on the 11th of September 2022. While Fashion Week begun in New York, we got our own fashion show on the red carpet. The looks were wide-ranging and star-studded attendees wearing everything from pink sequins to red tulle. To make this evening of impeccable fashion a little less overwhelming, I have compiled a short list of my favourite looks from the 2022 Emmy Awards.
Starting the list as strongly as she always does, is the one and only Zendaya Coleman. Zendaya is pretty much always on my best-dressed lists for any event she attends. Many times, she also happens to be my favourite look of the night and this year’s Emmy Awards was no exception. The Euphoria actress made history at the Emmys, when she became the youngest woman to ever win two Emmys within the same category. Moreover, Zendaya also became the first Black woman to win the Emmy for Lead Actress in a Drama Series twice.
Zendaya stunned in a full-length Valentino ballgown that she accessorized with a Bulgari diamond choker and earrings to match. The corseted peplum gown was paired with a matching black bow in her hair and perfectly encapsulated old Hollywood glamour.
Another favourite look of mine was Lizzo in Giambattista Valli. Lizzo won an Emmy for her show Watch Out for the Big Grrrls in the Outstanding Competition Program category. The singer celebrated her win in a showstopping red tulle gown. The gown followed the high-low, A-line silhouette that Giambattista Valli has become synonymous with as of late.
One of my favourite aspects of the look was the minimalism of the beauty look and accessories to match such a vibrant red gown. Lizzo’s makeup was simple and clean, and styled her hair in a high-bun. I think the free-flowing strands and wispy baby hairs complimented the flamboyance of the gown impeccably. Just perfect.
Euphoria star Maude Apatow joins her co-star Zendaya on this list. The actress attended the HBO afterparty alongside many of her co-stars in a corseted, ethereal Vivienne Westwood dress. The structured white gown was styled by Mimi Cuttrell for this year’s red carpet. Maude’s rebellious and captivating look was accompanied by dark eye makeup by artist Kelsey Deenihan Fisher.
And finally, not unlike her double win for Lead Actress in a Drama Series, Zendaya has managed to appear on this list twice. After her stunning victory in her black Valentino gown, the star changed her outfit before hitting the HBO afterparty. The Emmy winner wore a vibrant red fitted Valentino gown that featured an off-the-shoulder detail that scooped into a striking low neckline. She styled. Her hair was styled in a low-bun to accompany the simple yet remarkable gown. It allowed for her delicate neckline to be fully displayed.

Overall, Zendaya won the Emmy Awards this year in both the acting and fashion categories. She continues to blow me away with her red-carpet fashion, proving that her collaboration with stylist Law Roach is an unstoppable force.
