The Milan Fashion Week menswear spring-summer 2026 (“MFW mens SS26”) season is upon us. On the 20th of June, MTL Studio will begin the festivities with their presentation at 1:00 pm BST. Fashion week consists of presentations, appointments and fashion shows. From a business lens, its primary focus is to give Buyers and industry professionals the first look at the ready-to-wear (RTW) or couture lines. Artistically, Fashion Week presents what original industry thinkers deem to be the next cultural shift. It doesn’t attract the same level of attention as womenswear. However, there are a few reasons you should keep up.

The menswear collections presented won’t be an afterthought. During the womenswear season, designers will often include a few menswear looks to complete the collection. For example, Etro Magma Fall 2025 showcased 64 looks, 12 of which were menswear. This season will feature collections with a primary focus on menswear.

Lastly, you’ll be able to adapt to this season more quickly than womenswear. For the fall 2024 collections, Paris Fashion Week showcased an impressive 73 collections. Even the most enthusiastic fashion professional doesn’t keep up with this many events. The menswear season is more digestible and less overwhelming.

We published a poll that asked 17 adults about their shopping habits.

  • 75% of people said they shop in both men’s and womenswear departments
  • 25% of people said they shop in the women’s department only
  • 0% of people said they shop in the men’s department only.

The poll shows that our readers are interested in fashion, regardless who the garments are marketed to. However, it does not prove if some readers are interested in the men’s department only as some may have been reluctant to respond.

BOF research findings.
