Prepare To Be Amazed by the Unique Business Shark Outfit
Stunts and haute couture were pulled from the fishing line of Berlin Fashion Week in July of 2023. Lennart Klause attended such events with a look to stun all. Audiences were gagged! When Klause presented his “Business Shark” outfit, bringing quirky and business chic to the runway.
In catwalk culture, it is not rare to see bizarre or political presentations through garments; typically, these are my favourite aspects of the fashion world. I’m sure many who are unaware of the exuberant expressions throughout the industry would find most “out there” fashion disturbing and brutal. However, I am all here for it!
Taking Business Shark to The Next Level
Taking things literally, Klause took Business Shark to the next level when unveiling his shark head look. This appeared as an extraordinary take on the meaning and was oozing with couture. The inspiration sparked from the corrupted corporate world that separates us as humans. Mocking leadership positions make a stance on how we have come to be money-hungry. This is while we should rather stick to our animalistic roots.
The state of large companies is a harrowing reality, as the treatment of employees seems to be a deeply negative aspect of life. Toxic leaders are a depressing part of society, and a power trip is never amusing on the receiving end. This parody of class hierarchy is a thrilling application to the industry.
How It Looked on the Runway
Revealed on the runway, the model takes a nonchalant stroll, clearly emphasising the lack of care shown by these high-class clowns. They believe they own the world with the amount of money and status they hold. You couldn’t present such a meaningful statement without the character and animated walk alongside it.
Klause created a Shark head with a related fin on the back of a blazer, which was paired with a slick pencil skirt.
The head is an alternative and slightly humorous addition that I adore! The Blazer and skirt combo forces us to contemplate if this look suggests “girl power”, not just the demeaning factors of the corporate ladder. It is always a positive attribution to show how a businesswoman can be whoever she wants to be! We all know the women in power are just as greedy, if not more, due to having to prove a point.
The Female Business Shark
The feminisation of this look is stunning as it is coupled with a sharp pair of heels and hot pink stockings. You cannot get more fem than traditional hot pink and a sexy black pair of heels. The contrast of the stockings against the all-grey smart wear is an impressive juxtaposition that screams high fashion. They truly break up the outfit. Layers are applied with the same fabric and repeated colour across the blazer, shirt and tie, forming smart dress wear that coordinates entirely. This decision to have such a cohesive colour is related to the colouration of most sharks as well as an impressive layered outfit that I love dearly.
The structure of the overall garment is an uncommon silhouette that features a top-heavy form. This specific form assists in resemblance towards the aquatic creature and represents a sort of alternative fashion. Adding a boxy touch to the structure allows for exaggeration across the blazer. A great inclusion on Lennart’s behalf.
The Accessories of the Business Shark
We saw accessories that involved matching grey gloves and a non-branded handbag full of cash. These additions highlight once again the meaning behind construction: the breadwinners who cheat the system. The overflow of money from the purse reiterates the entire point: the rich have too much money for their own good.
This predatory look is a chic development from the inspiration and a true execution of the cause. This clear stance is an artistic and political approach to current issues and proves that we creatives are just as important as the world of academia and business. I fell in love with this look as soon as I laid eyes upon it, and I cannot wait to explore more of Lennart Klause’s work. For such a small creator, he is making massive strides in the industry. This newcomer is one to watch out for for sure!
