The Unique Ethereal Vision of Iris Van Herpen
This July in Paris, Iris Van Herpen showcased creativity and luxury with her Autumn/Winter collection. The collection didn’t disappoint. This collection was ethereal, artistic and just beautiful. The collection was based on French architect and oceanographer Jean Roguire’s work. The scenery was perfect, as it matched the collection’s theme superbly.
Van Herpen was also inspired by the World’s First Floating City, ‘Oceanix’, currently being built in South Korea.
Iris Van Herpen and Architectonics
Architectonics oozed creative vision. The collection had 17 stunning increate dresses, each as breath-taking as the previous one.
The music was divine as it was artistic, mysterious, and whimsical, just like the rest of the collection. The models were diverse, which is great to see.

Iris spoke about the theme: “I wanted to bring the structural element of architecture in a very fluid way. I wanted the garments to live, move and breathe.” And van Herpen did precisely that. The clothes felt as if it were its own entity. Beautiful bronzes, stunning silvers and pearly whites graced the runway for a harmonious collection. Every dress was divine, with intricate handmade detailing that captured me as I love pieces that show true creativity.
The Sensorama Wedding Dress
The opening look was to die for. It was a geometric white gown with embroidery with applique feathers, geometric shoes and a matching veil with a bronze applique to her head. The makeup look was simple, focusing on the bright white eyeliner that starkly contrasted against the model’s skin tone.

The Soft Floating Arms Dress
This breathtaking gold dress is to die for. It is bold and oozes glamour. The floating city inspires this dress; it is dainty yet powerful which I thought was terrific.

Iris van Herpen also created an editorial of the collection, which was just as spellbinding as the runway. This is one of the best collections I have ever seen; it was creative, stylish and elegant.
