MFW SS25: StudiesStudies showshow millenialmillenial menmen nownow officiallyofficially spendspend moremore onon clothesclothes thanthan womenwomen
Menswear is slowly becoming an obsession of mine. From red-carpet looks to press style and everything in between, the tides are shifting in fashion. Compared to ten years ago, menswear wasn’t as prevalent as it is today. Menswear was marketed as being practical with no room for frivolity. Essentially, there was little money to be made in producing clothes for men, as women typically spent the most on clothing. The average has now changed, with the millennial male spending 59.9% more on clothes and shoes than his female counterpart. Milan may be the first major fashion city to recognise this trend and capitalise on it this week, as Milan Fashion Week Menswear Spring-Summer 2025 (MFW SS25) starts this Friday.
Fashion week is a ‘week-long event’ (though it can be longer in some cities) that showcases catwalk shows, presentations, talks, and pop-up events. It indicates what’s to come and potentially gives the high street a chance to replicate garments at an affordable price.

Several designers are hosting their menswear collections outside of the Milan season, which will be recapped in sseditorial runway. Notably, New York and London do not have designated seasons for spring-summer 2025 menswear collections, but British atelier Dunhill has opted to participate. More action from other designers may come to fruition soon.
