The last call for Fashion Week is Paris. Arguably, it is the most intense city of them all. By the time Paris arrives, we’d have already seen 140 shows: 38 in New York, 43 in London, and 59 in Milan. Realistically speaking, no one is keeping up with 140 runway shows; most people in fashion watch who they like and buy from. That is all. We (kind of) have to focus on Paris because it is packed with homegrown talent, but the city is also familiar with international talent. Paris Fashion Week (“PFW 2024”) may be the best city for fashion week because it capitalises on its “c’est la vie” culture and proximity to the city’s rich artistic heritage.

As it happens, some of the oldest Maisons are still located in Paris. For example, Chanel, Hermès, and Louis Vuitton are showcasing their fall-winter 2024 collections in the city. Louis Vuitton has the most culture-bending prowess among these three due to its connections to music and sports.

Virgil Abloh and Pharrell, both DJs and musicians, respectively, have taken on the mantle of Creative Director for the brand. Since Pharrell’s inception, stars such as Beyoncé, Kim Kardashian, LeBron James, and Latto have all been seen in his designs. On the other hand, Chanel is a legacy brand, meaning it relies on its ties to tradition to drive sales rather than nouveau-riche techniques. Hermès is being overshadowed by its price tag and a lack of fashion-forward designs that keep it current for younger generations.

PFW 2024 isn’t simply for those houses. Rick Owens, Courrèges, and Vivienne Westwood are also on location. PFW commences on the 26th of February (overlapping Milan) and will end on the 5th of March. Here are the current shows for you to keep an eye on and watch in retrospect.
