Gucci fallfall 2025: aa househouse inin transition, transition, aa collectioncollection inin fullfull bloombloom

In February, the Gucci Fall 2025 collection debuted, which was a masterpiece. Gucci is a household name. This year, Gucci announced the departure of Sabato De Sarno from the house, following less than two years. Gucci’s design team debuted the collection in Milan. It was a solid collection that blended different eras of Gucci, making for a fun trip down memory lane. From sleek numbers to fur coats, there was a look for everyone. The models strutted out in different eras of Gucci, from 1960s chic to modern-day glam; there were looks for every type of consumer.

Gucci discussed what they envisioned for this collection. They said:

Today, the collection could be seen as foundational, that says something of Gucci in its codes and beliefs, both past, present and future; things that have meant something to many, adopted and adapted in their own way. A distinctive sense of Italian style, characterised by ‘sprezzatura’ – the perfectly imperfect, a studied effortlessness – a way of living and dressing that has been integral to Gucci’s aesthetic from the beginning, is something that permeates the collection and its presentation. Since its inception, the Gucci world has always been one cinematic in its scope, with objects made for both men and women, stylized and sumptuous, character-driven and individually adaptable.”

The collection was a mix of neutral colours to pops of colours that reflect what Gucci is about.

The set was dark green, moody, and sophisticated, with a bold ‘G’ for Gucci, which worked well with the theme of the collection. It has been 30 years since Gucci Horsebit debuted, and it has remained a staple ever since, evident throughout the collection. Gucci started as a reputable leather company, and that was evident in their accessories, with stylish, sleek bags and shoes being the stars of the collection.

The show was a star-studded event featuring Gucci’s brand ambassadors, Xiao Zhan, Yara Shahidi, Bethan Hardison, and Jessica Chastain, all of whom were attendees wearing Gucci.

The collection got everything right with its bold, maximalist pieces with 1960s silhouettes, which was a pivot from Sabato De Sarno’s minimalist collection

Gucci fall 2025 opening look

The opening look sets the tone for the rest of the show, and this look was perfect for the first look. The outfit is Gucci to the tee, from the brown fur coat that screams mob wife to the lavender pink lace bralette, to the wool grey midi skirt, paired with 1980s glasses and chartreuse green stiletto heels, and topped off with a yellow Gucci bag. It was cohesive and a fun look to start the show. I enjoyed how bold it was without it being gaudy and overwhelming. This is the Gucci I grew up with.

1960’s chic

Gucci began its ready-to-wear line in the 1960s, so for the Gucci team to reference the 1960s was a genius move. The butter-sleeved yellow blazer, paired with a black foil skirt and a matching bag, evoked Jackie Kennedy’s style, who was a massive fan of the brand. It was sleek, classy and very Gucci.

1970s: Disco Queen

When you think of Gucci, what comes to mind? Maximalism. This look was a quintessential example of maximalism. The silver embellished jumpsuit is exquisite. A look we saw in the previous collection by Sabato made a return to this collection. The jumpsuit would have given Freddie Mercury and Donna Summer a child. The jumpsuit had a low-cut, oval-shaped neckline that gave a sexy, playful edge.

The look was accessorised with huge 1980s-style glasses and a cream wool bag that complemented the maximalist jumpsuit, as well as green signature Gucci court heels that dipped in. I liked how the colours worked well together and mismatched; however, it was not overwhelming.

Gucci produces suits exquisitely, and this look was a prime example of excellent tailoring. The grey crepe suit, tailored to perfection, and the slim-fit matching trousers paired with Gucci loafers were phenomenal. I enjoyed that Gucci has a blend of maximalist loud pieces and simple tailored suits.

Maxamlist Mini

The model emerged in a white mini-embellished dress with embellishments. It was exquisite. It gave a 1960s vibe without looking like cosplay, which I enjoyed. I loved the fact that there was a neon green turtleneck under the dress, with an attached ribbon that created a dramatic sway as the model walked, as well as eggplant-coloured tights that elevated the white dress. The collection was fun, glamorous, and sexy, with history referenced throughout.

This is what Gucci has been all about since its inception in 1921. The Gucci fall 2025 collection featured house codes from Gucci; however, it didn’t feel stagnant or stale. The Gucci design team created a strong, stylish collection, making me wonder if we really need a new creative director when the design team has produced such a great collection.
