Robert Wun FW24: DarkDark romanceromance meetsmeets daringdaring designdesign

An exquisite Robert Wun FW24 collection comes from nothing but a vision. In the impressive hands of Robert Wun, the industry has received yet another successfully astounding line. Recently, his work has been unavoidable in the media due to his popularity and joyous outbursts towards his creations. His projects have led me to believe Robert Wun is one of my favourite designers. I am now consistently eager to witness his next couture garment production.

An entire decade has seen the likes of Wun’s professional brand. The blinding success of his business has developed over time, along with the quality that partners with it. Only last year, in 2023, he presented his first official couture collection at Paris Fashion Week, showcasing the brand’s rapid progression. The garments have been worn by stars such as Lady Gaga, Bjork, Doja Cat, and Celine Dion. This year, at the Met Gala’s prestigious event, Robert Wun was one of the most distributed designers among celebrities on the carpet.

ROBERT WUN FW24

To celebrate the admirable decade of Robert Wun’s brand, he dedicated a runway built on the concept of ‘Time’. He displayed it through a Fall-Winter 2024 collection. It was a striking event, accompanied by extraordinary accessories and a vast variety of shapes and forms.

To encapsulate his time as a designer, he analysed time and how it affects the Earth within Mother Nature’s seasons and our bodies. This finery was categorised by the seasons and the forms of human life and decay: Winter, Spring, Summer, Autumn, the skin, the flesh, the bones, and the Soul.

A line with an emotional and embedded concept is an example of reactive intuition and, in my eyes, a preferred aspect within fashion. A collection with meaning is an artistically significant stance that usually presents politics, emotions, and personal beliefs, thus allowing the audience to interpret it individually. Personally inclined concepts also provide a deeper understanding of the designer and their pieces. It’s exhilarating to see into the mind of an artist.

Robert Wun’s WINTER

Displayed with the angelic beauty of snow and its flakes, winter walks the runway, presenting the darker and colder weather. To showcase the drama of this gloomy season, the garments are anything but!

The opaque black is an incredible application that allows the icy aspects to be the main focus, giving an obvious replication of winter. The looks’ daunting beauty act as if they are attending a luxurious funeral, if such a thing exists, mysterious yet fierce in couture.

Robert Wun’s SPRING

The blooming of tomorrow, how time revives the earth and gifts us flowers, fruits and plants; it’s a new beginning for all. Stunning applications of colours and flowers make for a gorgeous presentation of Spring.

The loud tones convey a pure replication of the blooming flowers and fruitful life that emerges once the sun rises again. Robert Wun has done an exceptional job of articulating his take on the season, adhering to his well-known structures and forms. Cosmetic applications give every look justice by forcing further colour and exaggerating the model’s looks.

Robert Wun’s SUMMER

Summer promises a clearer sky that radiates light and warmth, and it is typically a season of positivity and enjoying the weather. Refreshing blues and summery scarlet are showcased across this season, employing bright colours to evoke the essence of summer.

Here, we see Wun incorporating life by applying butterflies and scattering hordes of these bugs across clothing. Once again, the consistency of structure is used throughout this collection as Wun’s common forms are examined multiple times. The cohesive aspects of the line are a successful trait.

Robert Wun’s AUTUMN

Interpretations of Autumn are everything you would expect, and personally, this isn’t a negative connotation. The aspect of change is evident in these garments as the leaves begin to die and colours begin to fade.

Autumn is a gradual process of decay within the earth as the cold sets in. However, its colours make it one of my favourite seasons. Warm tones and worn-out colours collide amongst these looks to create the flavour of this season, and Wun’s expositions have won me over once again.

THE SKIN

There’s not much depth to this garment, which is entirely the point; our outsides are a sliver of skin. An appearance rather than who we are. It’s been designed to resemble human skin, yet with a chic and fashionable interpretation. It’s slightly unsettling, and I adore it, in addition to the fact that they added a head as an accessory. It doesn’t possess many features so as not to represent a person too directly; it’s simply skin.

The nails are all unique, implying different skin tones, despite not being a completely obvious inclusion. It’s satisfying to witness that the thought was not dismissed. The subtle pleats are gorgeous, allowing a graceful flow to the delicate material. Perhaps this encapsulates the fact that we, as people, are fragile and eventually grow wrinkly.

Robert Wun’s FLESH

Diving further beneath the skin, we witness the blood reds of the flesh. This deep, obvious colour is magnificent and presents the muscle tissues well without being overly literal. It’s a refined example of couture that subtly portrays the human form in a luxurious manner, not in a literal anatomical sense.

The harmonised nails and hair, in the exact deep red, make for an entirely cohesive look, continuing the illusion of reality. I adore the slightly exaggerated body silhouette, which showcases the fact that it’s the inside of the body, so it’s going to be cinched, allowing you to witness all the curves. The elongated length is another notable addition, as it showcases the entire body, from head to toe, in vivid detail.

Robert Wun’s BONES

From all I have seen, I am in two minds about the application of bones. I believe it’s executed well, though it reminds me of a Halloween costume; it could’ve been interpreted better. It is interesting that the bone arms move uniquely, but yet again, I think there could have been alternative ways to present it.

I adore the skull mask as it is a unique piece of headgear, as well as the fact it is a frosted clear tone rather than clean white. It may be at fault concerning the shape of the garment. When I think of skeletons or bones, I envision them as slender and thin. I do not have the answer as to why the form was made this particular way, as it is obviously intentional. However, it is one of my least favourite looks from the Robert Wun FW24 collection.

Robert Wun’s SOUL

This entire look is stunning, prestigious, graceful and divine. I and many audience members have been stunned by how it walked the runway. The way the catwalk lights reacted to the stones and reflected among the crowd was a noticeable yet classic choice, like stars dancing on the runway. The arms are equally marvellous and delightfully beautiful, a great representation of the “soul” as a physical form. It’s deeply ominous and almost ghostly.

The train adds to the form because it has been constructed to convey elegance and angelicity, as the Soul is a precious thing. I’m highly pleased that Robert Wun didn’t stop production at the bones, as it would have been more clichéd and, in this case, underwhelming. The Soul has been an astounding application to the collection and probably the star of the show, if you pardon the pun, which is perhaps what he wanted to do as’ save the best ’til last.

ROBERT WUN FW24

Considering this is one of my favourite collections this year, it must be an example of the greatness within these creations. As a fashion journalist, I see many runways and clothing lines throughout the year, and it takes much exaggeration and creativity to entirely impress me.

This collection has made such a drastic impression on me and the public that even my friends, who are not involved in the fashion industry, have shown interest in Robert Wun FW24 designs. Before I had even laid my eyes on the catwalk independently, many of my friends sent me the content of the collection. I was incredibly impressed by this impressive collection.
