Beyonce opens her Renaissance World Tour in Sweden in a custom dress.

Beyoncé’s Renaissance World Tour is a Gift to Custom Styling

May marked the start of Beyoncé’s 57-show Renaissance World Tour, and Queen Bey always pulls out the stops. Everything was perfect, from the 37-song set to the elaborate production of the show, including Bey’s custom outfits.

Beyoncé wore nine outfits, styled by Shiona Turini, throughout the 3-hour show, and there was one clear theme: silver. Not only is this very on trend, with silver being the ‘it’ colour of 2023, but it creates a feeling of consistency with the branding of Renaissance, which featured Bey wearing a barely-there silver look whilst riding on an electric horse as the album cover.

The colour scheme for the Renaissance world tour was not the only way that Beyoncé acknowledged the aesthetic. The looks were rooted in club couture, paying tribute to the camp ballroom scenes that the album was deeply inspired by.

The Bodysuit

Custom House: Alexander McQueen

Beyoncé opened her world tour in a custom Alexander McQueen bodysuit. The black metallic look initially took to the catwalk in Fall 2023 in dress form. Still, it was turned into a full-length bodysuit for the Renaissance world tour.

The team at Alexander McQueen even took to Instagram to share behind-the-scenes footage of the piece being made, showing just how intricate the hand embroidery of this look was. Anything for Queen Bey.

The Jumpsuit

Custom House: Loewe

Now this is my favourite look of the show. It is unique and far less conventional than many singers’ looks on stage, yet it was perfect for the Renaissance world tour. Loewe is definitely having a moment in celebrity styling right now, so many high-profile stars opt for the more avant-garde look that Loewe offers, making celebrity styling much more enjoyable.

Beyoncé’s looks are always so good because she has an established sense of style but knows when to take risks and isn’t afraid to push the boat out. This look epitomises that concept. The jumpsuit is fitted and flattering, something that Bey often opts for, especially on stage, and it has the sparkly metallic tones that we often see the singer wear. However, adding the hand details across the jumpsuit that match Bey’s gloves takes this look into a new realm.

The Embroidered Cape

Custom House: Coperni

Bey closed the show in a striking custom look by Coperni. Now, I will admit it is hard not to get distracted by the crystal-encrusted horse and Beyoncé flying through the shy on the said horse. Still, once you get past those two things, you can see the beauty of this outfit.

The look was inspired by look 35 from Coperni’s FW23 Collection and consisted of an embroidered cape, bodysuit, and gloves. Coperni took to Instagram to share, “Made from silver lasercut feathers, the outfit required hundreds of hours of handstitch work in India.”

The Pearls

Custom House: Balmain

This look epitomised Beyoncé’s style for me. She works closely with Olivier Rousteing and Balmain, so the silhouette, accessories, and pearl detailing on this look felt so well-suited to Beyoncé’s style.

Utility-mania

Custom House: Loewe

Beyoncé brought a second sparkling Loewe look for her feminist anthem, ‘Who Runs the World’. The look featured a sparkling co-ord of silver glitter, combining a fitted top with oversized utility-inspired trousers. However, the star of this look was the silver breastplate, a signature Loewe piece.
