Tumblr Live: The Way Fans Now Use The Platform Is Actually Funny!
I have never had a social media platform make me laugh as much as Twitter. The up-to-date commentary, memes and video reactions are too elite to miss. Unfortunately, I left Twitter towards the end of last year because the platform became too volatile after Elon Musk took over leadership. I say that it’s unfortunate because nothing has ever given me that same level of humour. Not even Tumblr before staff introduced Tumblr Live.
Sometimes, when I’m on Instagram, I see tweets appear in posts which make me laugh. If that’s not enough, I peruse the comments section and tend to laugh at a lot of pop culture moments. For example, when the news breaks that a particular couple breaks up, the comments section is too entertaining to miss.
The comments section isn’t always accessible, though, especially on a platform like Tumblr. The comment section on Tumblr is practically non-existent. It’s the posts themselves that are funny, and this week was no different. Tumblr announced that on the 24th of January, Tumblr Live will be closing down. As an avid Tumblr user for over seven years, I never liked the addition of Tumblr Live. Tumblr is not Instagram. I’m not clicking on your livestream or doing anything except reblogging or liking content.

Tumblr is for people who are fans of something. Tumblr’s are dedicated to a noun or stimulus’ that keeps your spirits high. I don’t care about how many followers you have or what you look like. Tumblr wants to compete with the other social media platforms, and sometimes it’s super annoying to see. Just be yourself and focus on why people use your platform in the first place. It seems like I’m not the only person who felt this way because the commentary had me weak in the knees.
Get Ready to LOL
I am crying. This iconic picture was taken from the set of the CW show The Flash is often used in the meme world. It usually shows up to illustrate how people feel when characters they don’t like die on a TV show. This is too funny.
One word: chaos. I can just tell that this user is happy Tumblr Live is going.
Hahahah! Not the Mean Girls throwback moment. Stop trying to make it happen, guys.
Savage! When people need to rethink a decision, there is shame involved. Tumblr user env0 doesn’t care, though. Cue the dancing crab!
LOL! Look at the way the little girl is showing around the crab. Tumblr user hope-ur-ok is terrible.
Hahaha! Look at the hashtags!
The girls are dancing.
Literally, nobody wants Tumblr Live.
No one is going for it. Tumblr user idontgettechnology basically told the staff to take their update back.
This is nothing short of a virtual slap in the face. This post is so funny, it’s crazy.
Tumblr Live Won’t Snooze
Guys, help me. Wtf is this? Haha! People actually don’t care. The funny part about this is that when you attempt to snooze Tumblr Live, it doesn’t even work. So, no one needs to worry about that anymore because the entire thing is shutting down as of the 24th of January.
More frustration over the fact that Tumblr Live refuses to go away!
Barbie?! Leave Margot out of this, lol!
It won’t snooze. Do you know how funny it is to watch people struggle with social media updates that they hate? The comments have gone so far as to suggest ad blockers!
Tumblr user confusionmeisss is irritated because they need to snooze Live every 30 days.
Elite Reactions
This has to be one of the most illegal posts I’ve ever seen on Tumblr. People are too creative.
Relentless bullying and constant hatred. I am hollering right now.
Here’s another one that is pure comedic gold. Like, who does a flip after jumping? My belly hurts.
Not the medieval era. This is so classic; it’s unbelievable.
If you don’t laugh at this, I just don’t know. This is so funny, I can’t breathe. Absolute banger!
Tumblr user shroudkeeper brought Cersei back! They’ve been sitting in the background, waiting for the Live feature to deteriorate. My belly is still hurting with laughter.
Read this as if it’s the Tumblr staff vs the users, and this becomes funnier. The users are out of control!
Additional Tumblr Live Commentary
There’s no way you can get through this post without laughing. Who on earth is wiring 30,000 dollars to someone they don’t know? I can’t with this app.
Guy, please. I am at my wit’s end. Frogs?!
Death and hate what? What is wrong with people? This is so comical.
No influencers are welcome. So savage.
And there you have it Tumblr staff. I guess you made the right choice by choosing to shut down the Live feature. For once, the users won.
