Going back to the office may be a concept that is equally daunting and exciting for many of us following the COVID-19 pandemic. The world of work has been permanently altered by various lockdowns and adjustments to working from home. Office style won’t be the same when we return to the office post covid, because of working-from-home and the rise of loungewear.
For many, returning to work provides motivation and inspiration for getting dressed in the morning. An aspect of day-to-day life that was lost during the pandemic. Here is your guide to returning to the office in stylish outfits you can be excited about.
Oversized Tailoring
Oversized tailoring has dominated the fashion scene for a few seasons, and Autumn Winter 2021 is no excuse. Sported by Emily Ratajkowski and Bella Hadid, relaxed suits are the perfect way to be comfortable, smart, and stylish upon your return to the office.
Oversized blazers are an it-girl essential and the perfect option to smarten up any outfit. Whether your workplace has a smart-casual dress code or a full-suit dress code, post-COVID, an oversized blazer is a must-have.
Arket’s Oversized Wool Hopsack Blazer is a cult classic in various colours for your work wardrobe.
Wide-leg suit trousers are another great way to incorporate oversized tailoring into your workwear. A loose-fitting suit trousers paired with a cotton shirt or sweater vest creates a perfect and on-trend outfit to return to the office post covid. For a more casual look, tailored trousers can also be paired with a t-shirt or layered with an unbuttoned shirt.
Alternatively, wearing relaxed suits combines the two earlier options into one chic ensemble. As seen on various celebrities and it-girls, including Kendall Jenner, this cohesive option is an easy and fashionable set to invest in and re-style.
Suit Vests
Moving on from relaxed tailoring and onto a more fitted aspect of a full suit is the suit vest. Last year, we saw a massive resurgence in sweater vests by Kaia Gerber, Victoria Beckham and Harry Styles. However, this year, we are witnessing a newfound love for the suit vest.
Alexa Chung and Kendall Jenner are among the celebrities to foreground this trend, often opting to wear the vest alone. This is a stark contrast to the trend of last winter that saw sweater vests featured in layered outfits. The fitted suit can be paired with jeans to hit the sweet spot of a smart-casual look. Comparatively, styling the suit vest with oversized suit trousers gives rise to a fun silhouette.
Office Style Loafers
Loafers are by far the shoe of the season. They’re smart and comfortable by nature, making them the perfect shoe for your back-to-the-office wardrobe post covid. If you have missed trading in your heels for flats while working from home, then the trend of chunky loafers is perfect for you. The platform trend still allows you some added height whilst prioritising comfort on-trend.
Office Style Knits
Knit dresses are one of this autumn’s staple pieces. They stole the show at various catwalks across the Fashion Week this year. It is a beautiful way to transition from your summer to autumn pieces of clothing. The main difference is in the material. Knit dresses are a great way to add versatility to your work wardrobe.
