Travelling is one of life’s true pleasures – but it’s hard to deny that travelling as a beauty lover is stressful. You want to take your whole routine, allow for any skin or haircare emergency, and have options in terms of makeup. But one fantastic way to streamline your travel beauty bag when not reading sseditorial is by finding products that offer multiple uses. Two (or even three) in one means extra space in your luggage for more glittery eyeshadows.
Travelling with Cleansers and Exfoliants
One great tip is to find a cleanser that can work both morning and night. A recent favourite of mine has been the Vichy Normaderm Phytosolution Gel. It’s excellent at keeping breakouts at bay, yet it never feels overly stripping or harsh. And to make it even better, if you combine it with a microfiber cloth, it can be used to remove makeup, too.
Scrubbing on the go is notoriously tricky, but getting something that works for both face and body, like the Emulsion Universal Cream Scrub Base, is brilliant. This brand offers “base” products plus add-ons. So, you can even customise your scrub to make it exactly as you want.
Another great way to exfoliate on the go is with liquid acid. Paula’s Choice 2% BHA Exfoliant is up there with the best. But more than just a great pore-unclogger and texture-smoother, I find it invaluable in prepping skin for makeup. Unlike other acid toners, this one leaves a slightly emollient film on the skin. It also gives you a smooth, moisturised, grippy, perfectly prepped complexion.

Under Your Eyes
Under eyes are often a beauty concern, and the Tula Rose Eye Balm is a perfect treatment. This product is ingenious because it can be used both under makeup, as a sort of solid eye cream, and over top of makeup throughout the day. If your under eyes look dry, dull, creasy, or dark as the hours wear on, having this at hand will be a total godsend.
Don’t Forget Your SPF
One of my favourite ways to streamline a beauty routine is by combining SPF with my other products. The Go-To Skincare Zincredible Tinted is a recent favourite for this. The product offers physical sun defence and a hydrating, glowy, slightly blurring finish. For more coverage, though, the Holika Holika BB Cream is terrific. Both can be applied with fingers, saving you even more space when packing.
I recently fell head over heels for Kevyn Aucoin’s The Glass Glow Face. This is for you if you’re into liquid highlighters that look like perfect, dewy skin. I also like wearing it under makeup as an uber-hydrating and sheeny primer and on my eyelids as an easy gloss effect. If you’re into shiny skin, a tube of this will always serve you right.
Travelling Combinations
Combining lip and cheek products can also minimise your packing, and the Milk Makeup Lip + Cheeks are among my favourite dual products. I sometimes even smudge them onto the eyelids for a minimal, monochromatic makeup look.
Another fun option is a gloss finish. The Fenty Beauty Gloss Bombs look great on lids and cheeks, as well as on the lips. They’re high shine without feeling sticky, making them perfect for smearing anywhere. I have a special place in my heart for all the shades, but the new launch Sweet Mouth, a pale nude-y pink, might be my favourite yet.
Eye Products for Travelling
Eye products needn’t be left out, either. A sheeny liquid shadow has a place on the tops of the cheekbones and even as a lipstick topper – and the Tarte Rainforest of the Sea Seaglass Eyeshadow in Night Dive is perfect for the job. It’s pale pink with a slightly chartreuse-y reflection. It is a super highlight for an ethereal, alienesque vibe on the inner corner or cheekbones. It also sets and stays put.
My final recommendation for travel is the Garden Of Wisdom Argan Oil. Oils are great for smoothing hair flyaways, banishing flakiness of the skin, hydrating just about anywhere, and adding glow – and this one comes in an incredibly easy-to-transport bottle.
