A Look Back On Beyoncé’s Stunning British Vogue Shoot

As the gear-up leading to Beyoncé’s long-awaited album ‘RENAISSANCE’ is in full force, British Vogue teased their upcoming cover star, Beyoncé, for their July 2022 issue. She did not just wow me with one look, but many. They all encompassed different outfits and themes throughout the shoot.

Look One

Her Schiaparelli Haute Couture coat is what first caught my eye. Beyoncé is covered in gold-plated reflective sequins and rhinestones. The coat’s lapels extend high up past her head like a hood. The gold colour of the skin gives Beyoncé a warmer complexion making her seem brighter and full of energy. It may suggest that she is supercharged after her long hiatus from music.

The second look I admire is the one worn by Beyoncé, posing seductively on a motorcycle. Beyoncé is wearing a black patchwork leather jacket by Junya Watanabe and black vinyl leggings by Commando. This edgy punk rock look is reminiscent of that retro-futuristic vibe she was going for with this shoot. The motorcycle and horse she sits on top of are synonymous with each other and elude to her album cover. Not one to shy away from a carefully developed marketing plan, Beyoncé already teased it on her Instagram. Her boots are by Harris Reed and Roker, whilst her beaded leather studded headpiece is by Malakai.

Look Three

My next favourite look finds Beyoncé posing on a giant disco mirror ball in a silk corset and train, with sequined leggings, all by Harris Reed. She can be seen mixing 18th-century fashion with the glitz and glam of the future. Could this be an underlying theme of her newest album? As Break Your Soul is a mixture of old-school dance music from the 80s with a modern update of today’s tunes. She wears a feather headpiece by Harris Reed and Vivienne Lake that resembles a halo around the crown of her head. Typically headpieces like this symbolise omnipotence and signs of worship. Queen Bey may finally be back.

Look Four

Like a real-life Barbie doll, Beyoncé wears a pink latex floor-length coat and red thigh-high latex boots by GCDS. Her pose resembles a puppet, styled in a pink fishnet bodysuit and gloves underneath, also by GCDS. In one image, she is pictured with her coat closed and a red visor extending down into sunglasses. Created by the one and only House of Flora. In the second photo, her jacket is open, exposing her incredible body. Beyoncé wears an iridescent headpiece by Philip Treacy and statement earrings by Lorraine Schwartz.

Next, Beyoncé wears Marc Jacobs in a light-wash denim skirt and jacket set in a much more tonal look. The coat draped over her shoulders to give a top-heavy silhouette. The top half of her body and hips are adorned with circular mirror embellishment bringing that future element into the look. She paired the outfit with some white loose-fitting leather gloves and silver statement earrings by Lorraine Schwartz.

The last image I picked out is Beyoncé sporting her brand Ivy Park. Her oversized jacket, pink bodysuit and sheer floral nude jumpsuit are all by Ivy Park. It is from her 6th collaboration collection with Adidas. A chunky coiling detail was layered on her jacket by Han Kjobenhavn and her sandal heels by Gianvito Rossi. The confetti falls around her as she appears, standing on a dancefloor. She could be teasing some summer dance anthems to get us on our feet.
