The trend for pouty and bigger lips has come to the fore in recent years. With the prevalence of lip fillers on the high street and advertising through Instagram, it’s easier than ever to make a temporary change to your face. That is what we will be speaking about today. How to achieve a fuller pout temporarily outside lip fillers’ scope.

I have fantastic recommendations in my arsenal to up your pout game – temporarily, of course. Liners are essential when choosing that slightly puffy look, and there are a ton that I love.

Lip Liners & Pencils

The Marc Jacobs Beauty Poutliner Longwear Lipliner Pencil in Oh Cocoa is a beautiful mid-brown with a fantastic gel-like formula that sets and stays. Similarly, the Charlotte Tilbury Lip Cheat in Pillow Talk is an absolute classic! It’s an excellent shade for anyone who has more of a pink-toned lip.

The Makeup For Ever Artist Color Pencils are perfect for those seeking a specific shade, as the range is second to none. I will also always have a soft spot for the MAC Lip Liners, with the shades Whirl (a more profound, cool-toned nude) and Spice (a warmer, lighter, ’90s vibe), as they are among my favourites.

For those looking for a bargain, you can’t do better than the NYX Professional Slide On Lip Pencil in Nude Suede Shoes. It’s the most fantastic suits-all shade in a creamy but long-lasting formula that feels far more expensive than it is.

Suppose you want a more casual look that gives a similar pout-boosting effect. In that case, I enjoy a creamy colour smudged slightly over your lip lines. The new Charlotte Tilbury Lip and Cheek Glow is a new discovery I adore for this look – simply rub your finger in the product, then tape it gently over the centre of your top and bottom lip for a juicy look.

Lipstick

Furthermore, I also love the Glossier Generation G Lipsticks for a more matte take on this smudgy overline. The shade Like is a perfect mauve pink, while Leo is a deep, warm, brown-toned nude.

The right shade of lipstick can also do wonders for faking a fuller-looking pout. My favourites are the Milani Color Statement Lipstick in Rose Femme and the Burt’s Bees Lipstick in Suede Splash. The Milani is a subtly rosy pink that looks barely there but gives lips a bit of definition and depth. The Burt’s Bees is lighter and nuder but can be applied slightly blotted to provide a very natural yet distinctly enlarged look to the lips.

Lip Gloss

A good gloss can also take you far in enlarging the look of your lips. By drawing light to your pout, you can make it look juicier and more plump. The best glosses out there are the Fenty Beauty Gloss Bombs. All the shades are brilliant, but the warm nude of Fenty Glow or the pale shimmery baby pink of Sweet Mouth is the best for giving a fuller look.

Highlighting the cupid’s bow is also essential to achieve a pouty look. My current favourite product for this look is the Westman Atelier Lit Up Highlight Stick, which looks almost blue in the tube but applies to give the most beautifully reflective, wet-look glow. A slightly sweaty moustache is surprisingly flattering!

My final tip to keep your lips as full-looking as possible is to take care of them. Keep a stick balm (like the Superfluid Lip Balm) on you to prevent your lips from dehydrating. The Algenist Genius Liquid Collagen Lip is a surprisingly effective under-lipstick treatment to smooth lines and give the appearance of a soft lip. And for overnight, I love applying the Indeed Labs Hydraluron Volumizing Lip Treatment in a thick layer, giving it hours to sink in and give lips a slight extra plumping.
