Why Does Kendall Jenner Always Look Better at After-Parties?

I firmly believe that Kendall Jenner is the queen of after-party dressing. I always love her after-party outfits more than her looks for the event. And this might be her best yet. I wish she had worn this look to the Met Gala instead of her glistening Tom Ford bodysuit.
We all know that Kendall is no stranger to a daring look. She often opts for some variation of a ‘naked dress’ for red-carpet events. But this Nensi Dojaka recreation of a 1994 Chanel design may be her boldest outfit. London-based designer Nensi Dojaka became famous for her lingerie-inspired looks.
Those quickly became favourites among A-list celebrities like Zendaya, Emily Ratajkowski and Jourdan Dunn. With Nensi Dojaka’s trademark being ‘naked’ looks, it seems fitting that the designer chose to pay homage to Lagerfeld by recreating this design.

Nadja Auermann wore the original look during the Chanel Spring-Summer 1994 show. This was one of Lagerfeld’s most iconic collections for the French fashion house. Lagerfeld joined Chanel in 1983 and stayed as creative director until he died in 2019. Lagerfeld’s body of work is so vast, as are his contributions to the industry. But out of all his works, this collection was one of my favourites.
The Dress
The look featured a sheer sequin bodysuit with pearl straps. A fitted look that adds a glamorous twist to a sporty silhouette. The sparkling yet sheer look was layered with black underwear and a cropped harness, all featured in Kendall’s 2023 recreation.
Kendall let the statement look speak for itself, pairing it with minimalist accessories and a simple beauty look. Jenner’s hair was sleeked back into a high ponytail, and her makeup felt more natural than most red carpet looks. Kendall opted for a glowy base, focusing heavily on the skin rather than a heavy eye or lip. Her vibrant yet natural pink blush was the most notable feature of the makeup look. This product fed into the ‘effortless’ beauty that perfectly complemented the dramatic outfit.

Kendall Jenner and Her Accessories
The accessories played a similar role, stepping away from the limelight so as not to overcomplicate or outshine the jumpsuit. Kendall wore a pair of barely-there black Gianvito Rossi heels and a silver clutch to match the tone s of the outfit, adding some sparkling diamond earrings as the only jewellery to compliment the sequinned look.
I love seeing celebrities wear archival looks and pay homage to the designs that paved the way for current trends. While I am glad that there were plenty of new designs at this year’s Met Gala despite the retrospective theme, this may be my favourite look of Kendall’s. I would have loved to have seen some more 90s Chanel at this year’s event.
That said, I am happy that Kendall Jenner brought this iconic look back and made me fall in love with it all over again. This outfit was the perfect Met Gala after-party look and one that is going to be on my mind for a very long time.
